Operation Hero
Operation Hero is an after school program designed to address issues faced by many of our military youth. Military life can be challenging for dependents. Children move from duty station to duty station. One or both parents can be deployed for extended periods of time making many households managed by a single parent. Often children feel isolated in new or even old surroundings. They may experience feelings of self-doubt or suffer from low self-esteem. This can lead to behavior problems placing their academic performance in jeopardy. Very quickly a child can spiral out of control. Operation Hero is designed to put these children back on track. Operation Hero meets twice weekly for 2 hours each for 9 weeks. The classes will be held Monday and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays starting in January from 4-6 pm at the YMCA. Sign up for the classes will begin in October. This program is free of charge! If you have any questions call Christina Anthony at 368-5395.
