Shaping McIntosh

The Need

A survey of McIntosh County residents revealed a belief that there is a need for a YMCA in the community. The survey respondents agreed with confidence that the creation of a YMCA will lead to:

Strengthened families

Programs that emphasize character building

Improved citizenship among the youth of the community

Partnerships for after school programs

Wellness and fitness opportunities for all age groups

The First Step

Under the guidance of the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, the first step of building a strong YMCA for McIntosh County is to conduct a Founder’s Campaign. This initial seed money will allow the YMCA to establish a funding base for the first three years of operation.

The Community Response

The McIntosh County Founder’s Campaign Steering Community has a goal to raise $150,000 to provide for the first three years of operation.

The Founder’s Campaign:

Demonstrates a final test of community commitment to determine ultimate sustainability

Identifies future leadership and a strong organization volunteer base

Provides funds for the first 36 months of operation

Allows the YMCA to become operational
