17 local High School Students recruited by the YMCA of Coastal Georgia receive $10,000 HSF Scholarship

Tuesday, March 27 is Diabetes Alert Day, and the YMCA of Coastal Georgia wants residents of Greater Savannah to learn their risk for type 2 diabetes and take action to prevent it.

The meeting focused on recapping the recent work of the Y along with looking ahead to the future, the nomination of new volunteer leaders and a salute to retiring board members, exceptional volunteers, and staff.

Every day, the YMCA of Coastal Georgia serves as a gathering place for the community. Kids pour in after school to play and do homework. Seniors meet for luncheons, group activities and to connect with one another. Teens gather for programs such as Teen Achievers and learn valuable career and college readiness skills. Adults come to a place where they have the time to focus on their personal wellness and health.
YMCA of Coastal Georgia Receives Grants From YMCA of the USA to Expand Early Childhood and Afterschool Programs For Local Hispanic and Latino Families
Submitted by Jacqueline Henry on January 17, 2012 - 10:58am[SAVANNAH, January 13, 2012] – YMCA of the USA (Y-USA), the resource office for the nation’s 2,700 YMCAs, has awarded the YMCA of Coastal Georgia two grants totaling $350,000 to expand its afterschool programs for Hispanic and Latino families residing in the Greater Savannah community. The grants will also help the Y further develop its early learning readiness model to better support Hispanic family members, friends, and neighbors who serve as informal caregivers of young children.

Run one, Run them all
Submitted by Jacqueline Henry on January 4, 2012 - 11:14amThe Critz Tybee Run Fest is fast approaching and as one of the event sponsors, the YMCA wants to make sure you’re ready. Whether you would like to participate in a race or volunteer, we encourage you to join in this fun community event. The run fest consists of 5 races each race featuring a different distance, you can choose to run one or run them all. The event kicks off Friday February 3rd at 6 pm with the 5K and Kiddie Run and continues Saturday morning with a 10K, ½ marathon, 2.8 Mile Beach Run, and the YMCA’s 1 Mile Fun Run.
Angel Tree

Whether it was gift given to a child, or an entire Christmas complete with the holiday feast donated to a family, the Angel Tree at our YMCAs has proven to be a symbol of giving during the holiday season.
