Our features include a state-of-the-art fitness center, a dedicated child watch area for young ones, locker rooms and showers, and an aerobics room that hosts over 20 group exercise classes. We’re proud to partner as the City of Tybee Recreation Department, expanding recreational opportunities for our community. You’ll also find a community garden, an adult basketball gym, indoor pickleball courts, and a food pantry to support local families.

With Memorial Park and its playground just a short stroll away, and popular events like Skate Nights and pickleball sessions, the Tybee Island YMCA is the perfect hub for fitness, fun, and community on the coast. Join us as we continue to grow and strengthen our community together!

ACTIVE OLDER ADULTS/SENIOR CARE

At the Y, active older adult members experience a strong sense of belonging and a network of friends who provide support for sustained health and well-being. Through fun, safe and engaging programs, activities and events, members increase their self-confidence and sense of achievement while building relationships and celebrating the success and milestones of others. The newest equipment or the best meal plan can’t help you if it doesn’t fit your unique circumstances–our programming for active older adults takes into account your dietary needs, physical ability and schedule, and brings you together with other active older adults so you can meet new friends and build a community.

COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY

Rising Tyde Community Food Pantry was established in August 2011. Currently we are serving over 95 families every month. We have provisions for emergency situations, as well as for those who may not have transportation to get their food. The generosity of the community, and our many faithful volunteers has enabled us to provide food for Tybee families. Tybee people helping Tybee people. We are very grateful.

Currently, our needs include: Canned fruit, canned vegetables (corn, peas, green beans, tomatoes), peanut butter and jelly, spaghetti sauce, ravioli pasta, soup, canned meat (chicken, tuna), macaroni and cheese, rice, cereal, oatmeal, crackers, cookies, protein or breakfast bars, and personal hygiene items (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, razors, feminine items).

INCOME-BASED ASSISTANCE

Thanks to funds from our Annual Campaign, we provide financial assistance for children, teens, adults and families who cannot afford the full cost of a Y membership or YMCA programs.

We use a sliding fee scale based on total household income and the number of household members. We require supporting documentation to verify household size and income, and we consider special circumstances when providing assistance. Recipients are expected to be responsible for a percentage of the membership cost and/or the program fees. Qualification for YMCA financial assistance for membership is reviewed every year.

How to apply for Income-Based Assistance:

  1. Go to our Program page and apply to the Income-Based Assistance program or click here.
  2. Staff member will process the application within 2 weeks and notify the applicants.
