Classes are held conveniently at your local branch throughout the year.

Lifeguard Certification

Liberty County

This is an American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification Course that provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. The class will be presented in a blended format – online coursework will be sent out via email 1 week prior to class start and must be completed prior to last day of class.

Prerequisites:
Minimum age: 15 years

Swim 150 yards continuously

Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs

Complete a timed event within 50 seconds: Swim 20 yards, submerge to a depth of 5-6 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and exit the water without using steps or a ladder.

Certification is valid 2 years and awarded upon successful completion of the course.
Class will be held at the Liberty county YMCA.

Shallow Water Lifeguarding Certification
